    A letter to the editor regarding the comments made by Rep. Christopher Hodgkins, D-Lee about the December 3rd derailment.  The letter described the important role that the Housatonic plays in keeping industry alive in the area and in keeping trucks off of the roads.
  • Heart of Town in Ruins, The Hartford Courant, 10/17/2001
    The Canaan Union Station burned down on Saturday, October 13, 2001.  State police detectives are investigating the possibility of arson.  The station was built in 1872, and was the oldest U.S. railroad station in continuous operation.  The Housatonic Railroad runs through Canaan; its general offices were based in the Union Station.  The town hopes to be able to have the station restored.
